Day 5:: What Does it Mean to You?

I have had the absolute pleasure of hosting a dear friend (who is also blogging on hospitality for #31days and it is good stuff, go read her blog) this weekend, in fact as this is published we are on a super-mini road trip to PEI.  We’ve laughed and talked and stayed up late talking about everything. It has been super refreshing for me and I asked her to share a few words on what refreshment looks like for her.
Every Saturday during this #31days month, I’ll be sharing from a variety of people what refreshment looks like for them.
Here is Jenn on refreshment.

To me, refreshment means either slowing down or pausing for a break. It’s taking a deep breath or a time-out from daily routines.

Daily, I like to take a few minutes at the beginning of my kids’ nap-time to pour a glass of iced chai or coffee, grab a bite, and read a book for a bit.  Once a week-ish, I’ll try to run out to a coffee shop and read, write, or both.  I also find it super refreshing to meet up with a friend, sans kids :).

When life is busy and overwhelming, I try to be intentional to do little things that fill up my soul–early morning walks/runs, quiet time on my front porch rocker, quality time with friends.  Ideally, I like to plan the occasional mini-retreat where I go to a coffee shop, nice hotel lobby, or a friend’s house for several hours.

My ideal refreshing hour would be spent overlooking a body of water with a cup of coffee and a good book or a good friend, or both :).

What does your ideal refreshing hour look like?

It is amazing how those very little things make such a massive difference, isn’t it? 🙂 An ideal refreshing hour would have to be near the water for me too. 🙂 A river, the ocean, a lake with sun dancing on it. Lovely. 🙂

I would love to figure out a way to have water in my house in the form of a fountain or something simply because it is so refreshing and soothing to the soul.
