a portrait of my girls, once a week, (almost) every week in 2013
I’ve been gone from my girlies for the past eight days, it’s been wonderful and hard and good and exhausting. There was time together with my husband to celebrate our fifth (!!) anniversary, time with a very dear, old friend and time with my family to celebrate my Nana’s 90th birthday. I flew East Coast to West Coast with a couple days in Philly and I’m still not totally sure what time it is. But that is due to many late nights of talking as much as the time zone warps.
My mother-in-law graciously looked after my girls and then my father-in-law and all the kids left at home drove from Alberta to Nova Scotia (I know!) to spend some time with us and to take in an East Coast family vacation. My house is full of people and we added a leaf to the dining room and I haven’t done a lick of dishes since they’ve been here. It is good.
I’m easing back into running a household, planning meals and momming after a refreshing break. And I’m so glad for this reminder to not get overwhelmed but to capture my girlies in their everyday-ness. The way Kilmeny wears her ballet skirt and ‘pretty’ shoes as often as she can. (And the way she poses her feet) The way Khaira ‘writes’ and the little dimples in her hands. I think they both grew a year while I was gone so I’m treasuring all the details that make them 3 and 2.
What little things are you noticing in your everyday-ness?
