My sweet baby,
You’re two today.
I know that usually people say things like ‘slow down time’ and ‘where did the time go?’. I’m not saying that today. I am treasuring today.
I have savoured the time with you, we have spent so much of the last two years together. In my arms. In the Ergo. In my bed. Holding my hand. You are a mummy’s girl, there is no place you would rather be then with me. I soak in these moments, I know you won’t always need me so close. I have looked long into your eyes, I have cried with you when you won’t stop crying unless you are in my arms. I have walked miles with you, I have held your sweet, little dimpled hands until they relaxed in sleep.
I have cheered you in each new achievement, I have watched you fearlessly climb. Everywhere. I have grinned back when you grin at me from some high place on the playground.
I know that when you are ten, you will sleep so much more then you do now. And the weeks are becoming more and more frequent when you sleep all night long, all week long. Your teeth are nearly all in and it’s often just the chill of kicked off blankets that wake you. When you do, I tuck your soft blanket in around and whisper that ‘mummy’s here’, you go back to sleep.
Your curls and your big blue eyes are so gorgeous. Seriously. Even when I let your hair go wild for a couple of days, it still glints in the sunshine. Your laughter is hilarious and you have definitely inherited my Irish temper. We’ll work on that together, baby girl.
Kilmeny is your best friend, the two of you playing together make me so happy. You want to catch up to her in every way possible and she is willing to teach her all that she knows. Sometimes that can be a little messy.
Your favourite toy is your soft, pink baby and the bright yellow tractor. You love shoes and at this point, don’t care too much about what you wear although you do love getting all dolled up.
You sing to your baby or a stuffed animal and it is the sweetest thing to listen too.
Your word count is growing, and you put more and more words together. I’m not concerned with how many words you know, or how many abilities you have. I know if you want to lasso the moon, you will.
You may be small, my girl, but you are fierce. Your spirit is strong and you feel emotion deeply. When I am stressed and overwhelmed, you look at me with your big eyes and whisper ‘hi’ and smile. You help me slow down and count the cost of decisions I make.
You love your coffee, and love when we treat you with a latte. You love ‘snackies’ and you love your morning oatmeal. You have a few distinct ‘mine’ things that are super important to you but apart from those, you willingly share.
Your most signed words are ‘dog’, ‘cat’ and ‘bird’ whether we see them outside or in a picture book.
You are loved deeply, Khaira Tatiana Monique. You complete our family and we love our life with you.
