Eating:
We’ve been enjoying the treat of weekend breakfasts again and even made these waffles on a weekday. Jared is the main waffle maker in our household and this recipe is a keeper. Best waffles. Ever
And while we’re not strictly Paleo in this household or strict anything for that matter, we do strive for balance. These Paleo Potsticker Burgers were the perfect balance to all the carby goodness of the waffles. They were very much enjoyed by all of us and super easy to pull together. It’s a great winter food for adding some zing to dinner.
These Chocolate Cereal Bars are a new favourite with all of us, I love the list of healthy ingredients and that I can stash them in the freezer for grab and go snack times.
Drinking:
I have been obsessed lately with putting stuff in my water. I started with the innocent lemon but have moved on to slices of cucumber. If I have any fresh herbs, I’ll throw them in there too. It gives the water a delicious alive feeling and I drink far more water when it’s slightly flavoured.
Creating:
I made watercolours with the girls last week and we’ve been painting with them several times. I don’t consider myself a painter by any stretch of the imagination but it was so fun to create pretty colorscapes with my girls. Kilmeny loves painting, she will sit for over an hour and paint by herself. For that reason alone, I will keep painting supplies always on hand.
I’m planning on making more paper mache eggs for spring and brown paper birdnests for our spring mantle, all of which will include much mess and fun.
Reading:
Bunny Day and One More Bunny by Rick Walton are favourites of both girls. My three year old will sit and ‘read’ them to herself while my little Khaira will bring them over again and again for me to read them. I love the illustrations. Kilmeny is also sitting through longer stories, we’ve read through the first five chapters of Charlotte’s Web in one sitting. I love introducing my childhood favorites to my girls.
Linking:
I have been super excited about Emily Freeman’s newest book ever since I heard she was writing about it. It’s a book about art and the artist that we all are. The book is A Million Little Ways and releases in November. It is on my birthday wish list, in case anyone wanted to know. She talks a little bit about the book writing process here. A Millon Little Ways
Eating fresh veggies sometimes seems like more work then it’s worth but I got all inspired when I saw these winter salads from Aimee at Simple Bites. These are going on my menu plan. Yum. Winter Salad Inspiration
I saw this post first on Pinterest and read it. Blinking back the tears and whispering amen so as not to wake my little people. Such a breath of fresh air. I re-pinned it and am sharing it here with you. We can be so hard on each other, judging and saying stuff before we know the full story. Whether you have a iPhone or not, the message of love and encouragement is valuable and needed. Dear Mom on the iPhone, I get It
Do you put stuff in your water? Have you been creating anything lately? Read anything good to recommend? Any new favourite recipes?
Happy Weekend, friends!!

Another lovely post! Love, love, love the iPhone blog link. Cried my little eyes out!
Thank-you, Becca!! I cried too. So good. Thanks for commenting. =) XO
That artist book sounds so good! I’d love to read it.
Yes, I do like things in my water (and just wrote an article about it for a fitness magazine!
). Current faves are nectarines, lemon balm, and a smidgen of guava juice.
That sounds so good, Krista! I’ll have to try it. =) I thought of you when I saw the post about the artist, you are inspiring in the mediums you use. XO
It’s fun to read about your sweet family life. I haven’t been adding things to water lately, but I’m going to start! I have some mint growing the yard that’ll be yummy. : )
Thanks so much for stopping by! Mint is wonderful in water, I can’t wait for spring so I can start growing some of my own. =)
I tried your waffle recipe and you are right. They ARE the best waffles ever! Mom’s old waffle maker has tiny squares, and I thought that was the only way to get crispy waffles. I’m happy to have been proven wrong, with my big-square waffle maker and your waffle recipe!
Elianna and I have waffle nights now that Jerry’s away at school. She gets to put on her apron and poke the eggs to break them, and we whip the eggs whites together and marvel as they completely change their form. She woke up from her nap this afternoon and started hollering, “I make waffles! I NEED make waffles!!”
I’m so glad you enjoyed them!! Waffle night sounds like a fantastic idea. You’re a great mom,Lois, to show Elianna the egg whites and make the night all special for her. =)
