I have long maintained that when Kilmeny turned three, we would have a real party. You know, the kind where you invite other little kids (and their parents, who am I kidding? I’m not super-woman, lots of little kids running around high on sugar kind of freaks me out) over, have cake, play games, and decorate your house.
I am very inspired by all the fabulous ideas on Pinterest, very inspired. If we had gazillons of dollars to spend on parties, I would totally do all of my favourite ideas. But we don’t and I kind of like the idea of doing a lot of it ourselves.
And it was a three year old’s birthday after all. She will remember the random moments of delight far more then the perfectly etched poster and gorgeous table spread with lots of princess sweets.
Simplicity is one of our family’s favourite words.
So we kept it simple, and special. Very special.
And princess like.
There were hats with gold ribbon and ribbon wands for dancing to the music from Tangled and The Nutcracker.
There were chocolate cupcakes and sugar glitter to sprinkle on top or just eat plain.
There were gifts.
And there were five little girls with fancy princess dresses who twirled and played and talked as only little girls can.
I think that was my favourite part.
How do you do parties?
P.S. Thanks for all the love in welcoming me to this new space, I’m so glad you’re here! XO

Love your posts and pictures! It was a lovely party:) I love little princesses too!
It was so fun having you here with your Abby! =)
Kilmeny is getting so big!
Yes, she is! =)
I used to do parties. All the time. For huge crowds. And I decorated and baked and loved every minute of it.
And then I got sick. And exhausted. And now I like things small and oh so simple. This is my kind of party.
Pure magic.
Small and oh so simple. It’s beautiful.
